5cc8f23255922dd0_Macaron_vs_MacaroonOk people, if you haven’t already decided on your new years’ resolutions, I have one for you.  Learn the difference between Macaroon and Macaron.  They are two totally different biscuits. A macaron is not a macaroon pronounced or spelled wrong, they are different!

A macaron is a sweet almond based biscuit made of two halves and sandwiched together with a ganache or icing. The halves are crunchy on the outside and soft, chewy and full of flavour on the inside. Adriano Zumbo made this popular in Australia on MasterChef a few years ago.

A macaroon is a biscuit or cookie made of shredded coconut, egg white and sugar, they look like a little pyramid of shredded coconut when cooked.

This is a macaron.
